    In the early days of her administration, Mayor Wu has already taken steps to fulfill the bold climate and environmental commitments made during her campaign.   • Fare Free Bus Lines

    On her first day in office, Mayor Wu announced a two-year expansion of the fare-free buses pilot program. The proposed program will set aside $8 million to extend fare-free service to 23, 28, and 29 lines, which each serve environmental justice communities. The program represents a major step towards achieving a more reliable and equitable transportation system and making Boston healthy and connected.

    Fossil Fuel Divestment

     

    On November 22, Mayor Wu signed a landmark ordinance that will divest the City's $1.3 billion trust funds from fossil fuels. The measure marks an important milestone to address the climate crisis and usher in a greener and more resilient future for Boston.

  • Boston Green New Deal & Just Recovery

    CiMayor Wu centered much of her campaign around the Boston Green new Deal: an ambitious policy roadmap for delivering fundamental structural policy changes to the city. This bold vision to tackle the climate crisis will help deliver sustainable energy, good jobs, and healthy, connected communities - while fighting for a just and equitable future for all:
    • Protecting public health with clean air and water
    • Expanding Boston's green spaces 
    • Improving quality of life through better buildings and sustainable transit
    • Creating green jobs and workforce development
    • Fighting for environmental justice communities
    • Accelerating decarbonization
    • Planning for housing built around environmental sustainability, racial and socioeconomic integration, and safeguards against displacement.
